Letchworth State Park, renowned as the "Grand Canyon of the East," is one of the most scenically magnificent areas in the eastern U.S. The Genesee River roars through the gorge, over three major waterfalls, between cliffs as high as 600 feet in some places. The river's cliffs are surrounded by lush forests. Hikers can choose among 66 miles of hiking trails. Trails are also available for horseback riding, biking, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Letchworth offers nature, history and performing arts programs, guided walks and tours, a summer lecture series, whitewater rafting, kayaking, hot air ballooning, and two pools for swimming. Winter activities include snow tubing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and horse-drawn sleigh rides.

facilitiesDescription Loaded with amenities, the park has a bridle path, cabins, campsites with dumping stations and showers, food concessions, a gift shop, group campsites, a museum, a nature trail, picnic tables, pavilions, playing fields, a playground, and a swimming pool. For organizational retreats, educational and training needs can be met at the historic Conference Center, located in a secluded area at the southwest portion of the park. The fully-equipped Maplewood Lodge is an ideal vacation rental, particularly for snowmobilers, as it is connects to the NYS snowmobile trail system.

importantInformation The South Pool is closed. The Harvey Pool is available from late June to Labor Day and is a 20 min drive through the park from the South end. PLEASE NOTE: The pool will be closed Wed., September 2, 2015. While cell service is spotty in the park, the service in the South End is very limited. Each year the campground makes every effort to provide safe swimming opportunities by testing the water and by keeping the swimming areas staffed with lifeguards. Please be aware that if the safety of our swimmers is compromised, due to lack of lifeguard coverage or water quality issues, swimming will be prohibited and therefore cannot be a guaranteed activity. We apologize for this inconvenience as it may occur with little advance notice. See HERE for all current swimming closures! To insure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window can not be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made. There is a fee charged on the 2nd vehicle for the first night of your camping stay. PETS NO PETS are allowed in any cabin area! NO PETS are allowed in Loops 300, 400, 500, 600, and 800! Pets are ONLY allowed in the 100,200 & 700 Highbanks camping loops. Only 2 pets permitted per site. Current rabies certificate required. It is preferred that sites within designated pet loops are chosen when using Service animals. They will be allowed elsewhere when these sites are not available or practical. CABINS NO shower facilities available for renters of Cabin Area E. Smoking is NOT permitted in any of the cabins. For ALL cabins - linens/bedding and cookware/utensils are NOT provided. Cabin renter must arrive prior to 6 p.m. weekdays and 7 pm weekends. Cabin Area C and Camping customers must arrive prior to 9 pm weekends and 7 pm weekdays during spring and fall. There is NO interior water in Cabin Area C. Most Area C cabins open year round Cabin Areas A and B: Water available during the main season each year, but shut off after mid October Cabins in Area E and Cabins D-3 and D-8 are reserveable for any 2 night minimum at all times. These cabins do not have heat. Renters of Cabin Areas A, B, D, and E are in the south end of Letchworth. Campsite Pictures! : See site photos! Looking to reserve for just 1-night? If you make your reservation within 3 days of your arrival you can book a 1-night stay online or through the Call Center. This applies only to campsites. Pool fees 12 and over $2; 11 and under $1. Only US Coast Guard approved floatation devices area allowed. Cabin Areas and Camping areas allow maximum of 2 vehicles; additional cars will be charged a fee. No Roller blades, skates or skateboards, weapons, kegs or beer balls allowed. Peak season: A person may be the primary site occupant for 14 total days of camping within a 16 day period. S/he must leave the park for 48 hours once they have stayed the maximum number of days allowed before beginning a new reservation.
